About Peter Y. Milne
Vascular, Endovascular & Laser Surgeon
Peter Y. Milne originally trained in General Surgery and has specialised in Vascular Surgery since 1980. He trained in Cardiovascular Surgery at the Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas, and in Vascular Surgery at Royal Melbourne and Epsom District Hospital, London. He established the Melbourne Vascular Surgery Unit in 1985.
Mr Milne’s expertise includes varicose vein treatment by surgery, laser and sclerotherapy, including embolisation for pelvic congestion. His arterial interests are aneurysm repair (open and endovascular), carotid surgery and stenting for stroke prevention, limb bypass surgery, and minimally invasive angioplasty and stenting. Venous (varicose veins)
Non-operative: sclerotherapy (injection treatment); laser veins (best for comfort and minimum disruption); ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy; ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy and coil occlusion for malformations of veins.
Operative: varicose vein surgery.
Venous thrombosis (acute & chronic)
Non-operative: thrombectomy and lysis treatment for DVT; stenting for chronic vein blockage; post-phlebitic syndrome management.
Operative: venous valve repair; repair and stenting for narrowing after DVT or trauma.
