CalScale, a new release of Urea/Lactate moisturiser for dry skin. Combining the best natural skin moisturisers in one cream to help your skin
feel and look smooth. As we age the natural moisturisers in our skin, Lactate and Urea decrease.
To help counter this natural process CalScale contains two agents to replenish
dry skin, Urea and Lactate.

Urea:

Urea creams and ointments appear on the World Heath Organisations list of
essential medications for a basic healthcare system. This is due to its safety,
effectiveness and affordability. For over a century Urea containing formlations have been used in a
concentration dependent manner to restore skin hydration.

Urea’s role in skin hydration and repair has expanded to include regulation
of epidermal genes necessary for proper barrier function. Taken together,
Urea’s versatility in topical formulations and broad range of therapeutic
mechanism highlights its utility to clinicians and benefit to patients.

Lactate:

The Skincare Encyclopedia

Sodium Lactate is one of the skin’s Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs) and
the sodium salt of lactic acid. It is a great humectant because it binds water
easily, but is also important in maintaining the skin’s acid mantle. It keeps
the skin’s pH below 5, which is the optimal ph level to limit microbial growth
and even fight UV damage. It is also keratolytic, meaning it helps remove dead
skin cells from the surface of the skin, improving the appearance of the skin and
contributing to its overall healthy function.

What Is Sodium Lactate?

Sodium lactate is a multifunctional ingredient that is commonly used in
cosmetics and skincare products. Sodium lactate helps to improve the stability
of a formulation but also has the added benefit of pulling water-based moisture
into the skin. The main functions of sodium lactate are as a preservative
enhancer, buffering agent, and humectant moisturizer.
